

1. To capacitate and sensitize the media on gender stereotypes and help it acquire gender sensitive reporting skills.
2. To coordinate Gender Activists and organizations in Africa on how best to work with the media in ensuring that gender mainstreaming ideals become part of editorial policies.
3. To conduct research at national, regional and continental levels with the view of identifying gaps and missing links that will ensure gender stereotypes is demystified and that gender lenses are employed by all key stakeholders in ensuring that this becomes part of newsgathering and information dissemination.
4. To disseminate such key findings of best practises that promotes gender equality.
5. Enhancing and encouraging women’s participation in decision making processes and women’s political leadership.
6. To seek alliances and collaboration on joined projects with likeminded organizations that attempts to rise up with solutions to new emerging issues that have direct impact on gender mainstreaming.
7. To build consensus on the role of media and modalities for further engagement even on International declarations and Instruments such as 'Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women' and other Regional Continental and International Declarations.
8. To adopt a multi-sectoral approach in mainstreaming gender by sharing good practices amongst members.
9. To build the capacity of the network members and their constituencies to support and share skills on engaging the media effectively.
